why

On Sunday, Eli said something to me that he has never said before: 'why not?'

I didn't know when the 'why' question would come up....I guess I thought it would be later.

Ever since, he has asked why about EVERYTHING!

I like it though, because it keeps me on my toes and helps my brain get some exercise thinking of creative ways to explain complicated things to such a new mind.

Just as I was reading this entry I was thinking back to when Elizabeth started becoming inquisitive. I too, love this time when they make us think harder. I use to turn the tables on her and ask her why not about all kinds of things and her answers never ceased to amaze me.

I have encountered so many people that do not want kids to ask questions or want the child to be calmly placated by an answer as simple as "just because". This saddens me, because what makes true great thoguth in adults and children alike, is the ability to question.

Keep the questions and answers coming. Surely don't forget o pocket some of his and your creative answers. hey may come in handy some day!
